The French sculptor Jean Amado usually makes his works of concrete, which he mixes with ochre or reddish pigment. The result is described in the press release for the exhibition as ‘a rock’, ‘a crustacean’ or ‘a quirky residence’. The poetic titles the artist gives his works reinforce the diverse associations that they evoke. In the annual report, Oxenaar writes that ‘in the last ten years [Amado] has developed a unique technique to give shape to his dreams, in which nature, architecture and sculpture converge’.
