VAN GOGH EUROPE

The Kröller-Müller Museum, the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam and Van Gogh Brabant are the founding partners of Van Gogh Europe, which was established in 2012. The aim of the foundation is to make Van Gogh’s legacy as widely accessible as possible in Europe. After the initial phase, in 2018 the foundation began refocusing on objectives and strategy, so that a new long-term plan of action can be drawn up. Two new partners joined the initiative: the Drents Museum and the house in London (Hackford Road), where Vincent van Gogh lived.

Van Gogh Worldwide

The digital platform Van Gogh Worldwide is a unique, innovative platform publishing information to a high academic standard, and brings together art-historical and technical information about the work of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890).

The RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History, the Van Gogh Museum and the Kröller-Müller Museum are the three founding partners of Van Gogh Worldwide. They each possess detailed information on Van Gogh’s work, and they have pooled their expertise to make data available in digital form. The platform has been constructed in collaboration with a large number of partners including museums, private individuals and research institutions, especially the Cultural Heritage Laboratory of the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands.

In the first phase (until 2020), the project focused on all paintings, drawings and prints by Vincent van Gogh in the Netherlands: over 300 paintings and around 900 works on paper. In the second phase data for works located in foreign collections are added to the platform. A total of about 2000 works by Van Gogh are currently known. From 2021 to 2023, the goal was to connect worldwide collections to the platform. Van Gogh Worlwide has collaborated with museums all over the world to achieve this. As of October 1, Van Gogh Worldwide's maintenance department will take care of the improvement of the platform and will invite you to share any updates.

Museum Murals

The Kröller-Müller Museum is part of the nationwide street art project Museum Murals. For Museum Murals, street artists draw inspiration from works of art from twenty museum collections. They turn this inspiration into a mural in the neighbourhood of the museum. On a flat in Ede-Zuid, artist Fred Battle paints a mural inspired by the Kröller-Müller Museum collection. Museum Murals is an initiative of the Mauritshuis and is made possible by participants of the VriendenLoterij.

VISITVELUWE

As a ‘reason to travel’, the Kröller-Müller Museum is a strategic partner of VisitVeluwe.
Together with all the Veluwe municipalities and the tourist business community, VisitVeluwe is putting the region on the map as an attractive tourist destination. Intensive work is being done to inform and inspire visitors from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom to choose the Veluwe as a destination in their free time. The challenge in the coming years will be to spread the visitors out over the seasons in order to balance the benefits and burdens of tourism for entrepreneurs and the beautiful but vulnerable Veluwe nature.

NEXTPORTCHINA

The Kröller-Müller Museum has been collaborating with the digital marketing agency NextportChina since 2017. The aim of this collaboration is to bring the museum and its collection to the attention of the growing group of Chinese travellers and art lovers in China. These Chinese target groups are reached through various creative campaigns on well-known Chinese social media platforms.

For example, the Kröller-Müller Museum is actively promoted on popular WeChat Official Accounts and has its own profile in a well-known WeChat travel Mini Program. Furthermore, every year in September the museum and NextportChina organize the ‘New Student Welcome Event’. During this event, 150 young Chinese students temporarily studying in the Netherlands have the opportunity to discover the art collection and the park (De Hoge Veluwe) together.

In the autumn of 2020, the Kröller-Müller Museum launched an online game in WeChat. In this educational game, Chinese players answer questions to learn more about a selection of the museum’s masterpieces. The aim of the game was to remain visible and to connect with the Chinese target group in the Netherlands and abroad. Based on the answers provided in the game, in which players learned more about the museum's masterpieces, a travel persona was created for each player.

LRE FOUNDATION

The Kröller-Müller Museum and Liberation Route Europe Foundation (LRE Foundation) have entered into a partnership for three years. The LRE Foundation is an international network that keeps the memory of the Second World War alive in Europe. The LRE Foundation is the organization behind various commemorative projects, such as the Liberation Route Europe, the EU-certified Cultural Route that allows you to walk in the footsteps of the allied forces, and Europe Remembers. The Kröller-Müller Museum also has a fascinating wartime history. For example, at the beginning of the war a bomb shelter was built to protect the museum’s valuable collection and the museum functioned as an emergency hospital at the end of the war. This story has remained a well-kept secret, but that is about to change through the partnership with the LRE Foundation. With its location in the Airborne Region, the Kröller-Müller Museum is also an interesting partner for the LRE Foundation. The visitors to the Liberation Route Europe and Europe Remembers will appreciate the combination of art, culture and history. The collaboration with the Kröller-Müller Museum is a wonderful addition to the current activities of the LRE Foundation.
