Charley Toorop, works in the collection

With 41 paintings, 7 drawings and 7 lithographs, the Kröller-Müller boasts the largest museum collection of works by Charley Toorop, which is shown in its entirety in the exhibition Charley Toorop (1891-1995), works in the collection of the Kröller-Müller Museum. Due to the intense public interest, the exhibition is extended twice and ultimately runs for almost a full year.

‘I have great admiration for this artist, who has become very popular among the public. It was therefore my pleasure to make it a priority to supplement her work in the collection with characteristic pieces that we lacked’, writes Van Straaten. This year, for example, Still life with oil-can and clogs, which has already long been hanging in the museum on loan, can finally be purchased. The drawing Port of Marsaille is acquired from the collection of Bram Hammacher.

As part of the ‘Kröller-Müller series’, a publication on Charley Toorop is produced. The second edition of both the Dutch and English versions quickly sells out.
