I already enjoyed going there as a child, partly because it was situated in the middle of that big forest and was therefore part of a wonderful day of adventure. And for me, the enjoyment of the museum still begins at the entrance to the park.
I was one of the lucky few who was given the opportunity to compile ‘my’ collection of masterpieces on the occasion of the jubilee year. Thus, I looked at this beautiful museum once again in a new way. At the amazing building. At the sculpture garden, where you are always surprised again. And at the unique collection of artworks.
Every year, 40,000 children and young people alone are playfully introduced to the work of Van Gogh, Picasso and all the other great names here. And many times that number of adults from the Netherlands and far beyond return again and again to enjoy the familiar works and new acquisitions.
At the same time, I realized that this is a difficult period for the museum. Increasingly, it has to find its own means to keep this collection alive, for now and for the future. Thus, the idea arose, together with a group of people who love the Kröller-Müller as much as I do, to give the museum a special gift for its 75th anniversary: the Helene Kröller-Müller Fund.
A fund that raises money for the necessary conservation of artworks, the education of young people and other target groups and the organization of major, ground-breaking exhibitions. I appeal to you personally to contribute to this.
This website contains all the information on the Helene Kröller-Müller Fund, on how you can participate and what you can expect in return.
I sincerely hope that, with your help, we will be able to present the museum with a substantial amount, so that it can realize all its wishes in the coming five years. And that the children of today and of the future can continue to walk into the museum from the forest.
