Assemblages and collages
From the '70s onwards, Carel Visser (1928-2015) makes both assemblages with materials he seeks in the yard around his farm, as collages with cut-outs from newspapers and magazines.
Paper sculptures
On Fish cart he brings together different cut-outs on a pencil-drawn, dark form. Each element can still be distinguished individually. The collage looks organized; the repetition of fish immediately stands out. On the cart quite a few feather quills are pasted, making it a three-dimensional relief. Visser refers to his collages as ‘paper sculptures’.
